The results of a micromorphological study of soils (Apsheron–Gunz) buried under doleritic lavas of the Akhalkalaki Plateau as well as their comparison with present–day mountain charnozems of the same area give ground to suggest that by the time of their burial the climatic conditions were more humid than at present.
