A total preparation of phenolic compounds has been obtained from the cortex of the Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana). Using the method of chromatography and spectrophotometry and by means of specific chemical reactions three catechins have been isolated from this preparation. Two of these have been identified as (+) catechin and (-)epicatechin.
