The middle layer is at first assumed to be incompressible and a formula for determining deflections is derived. Then, the compressibility of the middle layer is taken into account and the total deflection of the three – ply plate is determined.

A regular way of determining the width of a city thoroughfare by the method of structural mechanics is presented. It is based on the analogy of a square rod of equal strength and may be applied to both existing and proposed systems of planning street networks, being one of the original features of the proposed system.

The alkaloid acuammin and alkaloid A<sub>7</sub> have, for the first time, been isolated from periwinkle, Vinca herbaceae growing in Georgia. The alkaloid A<sub>7</sub> is idenrified as norfluorocurarine.
