ბირთვული და რადიაციული ობიექტების, ბირთვული მასალების, რადიოაქტიური წყაროების ან/და რადიოაქტიური ნარჩენების ბირთვული დაცულობის უზრუნველყოფის სფეროში საქართველოს გარემოს დაცვისა და სოფლის მეურნეობის სამინისტროს სსიპ - ბირთვული და რადიაციული უსაფრთხოების სააგენტოს (შემდგომში – მარეგულირებელი ორგანო) ფუნქციებია:
The functions of the LEPL - Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety (hereinafter - the Regulatory Authority) within the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia in the field of nuclear safety of nuclear and radiation facilities, nuclear materials, radioactive sources and/or radioactive waste shall include: .

ა) ოპერატორისთვის ბირთვული დაცულობის სტანდარტებისა და მოთხოვნების შემუშავება და პერიოდული გადახედვა, საქმიანობასთან დაკავშირებული საფრთხეების გათვალისწინებით.
a) the development and periodic review of nuclear safety standards and requirements for operators, taking into account the hazards associated with the activity.

ბ) ბირთვული დაცულობის პირობების შესრულების უზრუნველსაყოფად, ავტორიზაციასთან დაკავშირებული ადმინისტრაციული წარმოების დროს, დოკუმენტაციის განხილვა და შესაბამისი გადაწყვეტილების მიღება, კანონმდებლობით დადგენილი წესით.
b) checking documentation and making appropriate decisions during administrative procedures related to the issuance of permits in order to ensure compliance with nuclear safety conditions in the manner established by legislation.

ზ) სავარაუდო რადიოლოგიური შედეგების შესამცირებლად, ბირთვული და რადიაციული საქმიანობისას ბირთვული დაცულობის უზრუნველყოფის პირობების დარღვევის ან/და ბირთვული დაცულობის სისტემის გაუმართავი ფუნქციონირების გამოვლენის შემთხვევაში, იძულებითი ღონისძიებების განხორციელება, საქართველოს კანონმდებლობის შესაბამისად.
g) implementation of coercive measures to reduce the potential radiological consequences in the event of a violation of the conditions for ensuring nuclear safety during nuclear radiation activities and/or the detection of malfunctions of the nuclear safety system in accordance with the legislation of Georgia.

h) assessment of DBTs (Design Basis Threats) of facilities with high radiation risk, individuals and/or legal entities owning Category I nuclear materials and radioactive sources, class W1 radioactive waste.

საქართველოს შინაგან საქმეთა სამინისტრო უზრუნველყოფს, დაინტერესებულ უწყებასთან გაფორმებული ხელშეკრულების საფუძველზე, ბირთვული და რადიაციული ობიექტის (გარდა მაიონებელი გამოსხივების გენერატორის მფლობელი ობიექტისა) ფიზიკურ დაცვას და კონტროლს, რადიოაქტიური მასალების ტრანსპორტირების უსაფრთხოებას, ასევე, კანონმდებლობით გათვალისწინებულ სხვა ღონისძიებებს.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia shall ensure, on the basis of an agreement concluded with the concerned agency, the physical protection and control of nuclear and radiation facilities (with the exception of facilities with an ionising radiation generator), the safety of transportation of radioactive materials, as well as other measures provided for by legislation.

საქართველოს ოკუპირებული ტერიტორიებიდან დევნილთა, შრომის, ჯანმრთელობისა და სოციალური დაცვის სამინისტრო, ბირთვულ დაცულობასთან დაკავშირებული შემთხვევისას უზრუნველყოფს დაზარალებულთა სამედიცინო და ფსიქოლოგიურ დახმარებას.
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia shall provide medical and psychological assistance to victims in cases related to nuclear safety.

An operator shall be primarily responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of effective nuclear safety measures for nuclear and radiation facilities, nuclear materials, radioactive sources and/or radioactive waste.
